Jennifer + Kevin

Real Wedding Celebration in Philadelphia

From Sharon Hill to Center City, wedding bells rang

Tying the knot in Philadelphia proved an easy choice for Kevin, an attorney, and Jennifer, an instructional designer and health coach; the pair met through mutual friends. "After all, it is the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection," says Jennifer. Choosing a venue required a bit more thought, but Kimpton Hotel Palomar Philadelphia seemed a perfect match, thanks to its "fabulous food, outstanding customer service, and inviting and contemporary rooms.” On the morning of October 4, 2014, the bridal party got ready in the Presidential Suite. As they sipped mimosas, award-winning makeup artist Nikki Fraser of Beauty and the Bride (a college friend) dolled everyone up for the big, love-filled festivities.

Memorable Details

The groom took a black sedan and the bride a white Rolls Royce, and they met at the First African Baptist Church in Sharon Hill. 600 guests awaited their arrival while viewing a photomontage set to music. The couple exchanged personal vows before Reverend Marshall Mitchell, and live vocalists performed.

"Everyone made us and our guests feel like super stars," says Jennifer. (This wasn’t too difficult, since they were superstars long before they checked in!)

The bride floated in her Alfred Angelo gown; her dapper groom wore a Trunk Club tux.

After the ceremony, a mocktail reception at the church banquet hall featured live jazz and a tower of 500 cupcakes. At 6 p.m., the cocktail reception began on the Kimpton Hotel Palomar Philadelphia’s 24th floor.

After the reception, guests headed up to the Burnham Ballroom on the 25th floor, lured onto the dance floor by Robin Thicke's “Blurred” Lines (selected by DJ Flex and accompanied by a live drummer).
