The best of the best among Center City Philadelphia restaurants
Center City is known for its gastronomic pleasures, and for good reason. This is the city's epicenter of grand cuisine and no restaurant appeals to foodies more than Square 1682, located adjacent to the Hotel Palomar. Here, Chef Guillermo Tellez has created what he calls "New American Cooking." Everyone else simply calls it fabulous. You can watch Chef Tellez work his magic in the exhibition kitchen, bringing together a world of flavors on more than 40-plus plates, perfect for sharing, exploring and discussing. Even more impressive may be the Chef's fervent belief in sustainable, local and organic produce and meats procured from Philadelphia farmers markets. Its no wonder Square 1682 is Philadelphia's first LEED-certified, green eatery and bar.
Not to be outdone by their culinary counterpart, Master Mixologist Jacques Bezuidenhout and Master Sommelier Emily Wines have played essential roles in bringing the bar and lounge into focus. Bezuidenhout's cocktail menu is the fusion of fresh seasonal ingredients and fresh imagination and the notable beer list features wonderful old standbys as well as a dazzling array of local craft brews.
Meanwhile, Wines' list encompasses great values, hidden gems and classic picks. Her selections adorn a cascading two-story glass wine cellar that greets you upon arrival. Cheers!
