Jeff & David

Inspiring Philadelphia Wedding Story

Life, liberty and the pursuit of a bow tie

Jeff, a commercial banker, and David, an HR business partner, had been together eight years when they decided to tie the knot. Selecting the location was easy; what better city than LGBT-friendly Philadelphia, and what better venue than LGBT-supportive Palomar? "We wanted an intimate, elegant, modern and memorable celebration," says the couple. The big day began with champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries delivered to the couple's room, courtesy of Palomar staff. As the two got ready together, the photographer captured their joy, peace and panic (as the grooms realized they didn't know how to tie David's bow tie!). Fortunately, a wedding guest saved the day by running out to buy a clip-on.

Memorable Details

All accessories in place, David and Jeff entered the Cret Room just before sunset. Thirty close friends and family watched as the two walked down the aisle in matching Calvin Klein suits. David's grandparents, in their 90s, joined via Skype from their home in Florida.

"Everyone—from the doormen to the waiters and waitresses at the reception—made us feel welcome and truly special," recalls the couple.

"We and our guests felt like the only ones at the hotel, with all the attention on us."

The reception was held in the Wright Room, with a sweetheart table in the center. The intimate arrangement allowed the grooms to spend quality time with each guest. Jeff and David wanted the feeling of hosting guests in their own home.

Palomar staff personalized the entire night to the wishes of the Collegeville, Pennsylvania, couple—from flowers and lighting to memorable fare. Instead of typical beef or chicken plates, the catering team developed five small-plate courses. And a delectable dessert bar stood in for traditional wedding cake.
